Cefais fy magu yng Nghaerdydd, ar aelwyd Gymraeg ei hiaith. Tra\u2019n ddisgybl yn Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen enillais Fedal Lenyddiaeth Eisteddfod yr Urdd ddwy waith. Ar \u00f4l astudio Saesneg yng Nghaergrawnt, bum yn America am dair mlynedd, yn Harvard ac Efrog Newydd, fel Cymrodor Harkness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dychwelais i Gymru ar \u00f4l gorffen doethuriaeth ar waith Iolo Mogrannwg yn Rhydychen, a gweithio fel cynhyrchydd teledu yn y BBC, cyn mynd i weithio ar fy liwt fy hunan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fi sgwennodd y geiriau dwyieithog ar dalcen Canolfan Mileniwm Cymru, ac apwyntiwyd fi\u2019n Fardd Cenedleathol Cymru yn 2005. Fi oedd y person cyntaf i siarad (mewn cerdd) pan agorwyd adeilad newydd y Senedd. Cefais fy ethol i\u2019r Orsedd yn 2005 ac ennill Coron Eisteddfod Bro Morgannwg 2012<\/a>. Derbyniais MBE am gyfraniad at lenyddiaeth ac iechyd meddwl yn 2022. Fe ddes i o\u2019r seremoni yng Nghaerdydd heb fy medal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hyd yn hyn, cyhoeddais naw cyfrol o farddoniaeth yn Gymraeg ac yn Saesneg. Y diweddaraf yn Gymraeg yw Treiglo<\/em> <\/a>(2017), yn s\u00f4n am farwolaeth fy nhad. Gyda Rowan Williams, cyfieithais Lyfr Taliesin<\/a><\/em> i Penguin Classics. Yn y gyfrol Tair Mewn Un<\/em> (2005), ceir fy nhair casgliad cyntaf o farddoniaeth: Sonedau Redsa<\/em> (1990), Cyfrif Un ac Un yn Dri<\/em> (1996) ac Y Llofrudd<\/em> Iaith (1999), a enillodd Gwobr Llyfr y Flwyddyn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mewn rhyddiaeth yn Saesneg, rwy wedi ymdrin \u00e2g iselder ysbryd (Sunbathing in the Rain<\/a><\/em>), hwylio (Two in a Boat<\/a><\/em>) a chamdrin emosiynnol gan fy mam (Nightshade Mother: A Disentangling<\/a><\/em>).  Mae canran uchel o\u2019r llyfr diwethaf yn Gymraeg, yn dyfynnu o ddyddiaduron fy mebyd.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
